A Happy and Wet Halloween

by Amy Kraft on October 31, 2012

Did everyone make it through the hurricane safe and sound? We spent some of our time trapped inside finally carving our pumpkins. Which one do you think we should name Sandy?

Ozzie made it out the door this morning to his daycare that’s thankfully open. He wouldn’t put on his pirate costume (all that time teaching him to say “Walk the plank!” for nothin’…) so he settled on his skeleton jammies. Olive is going as Zita the Spacegirl, the costume we made for this year’s New York Comic Con.

In fact, you can follow a few posts to hear this story. First, if you don’t know Zita, here’s my review of the book. Then, here’s a post of how we assembled Zita’s costume. When we went to Comic Con, we got in the autographing line for Zita’s creator, Ben Hatke. The look on his face when he spotted Olive was priceless. He explained to us that it’s the first time he’s ever seen anyone dress up as Zita. Then he created this comic of seeing Olive from his perspective. Love it.

In other news, in addition to the Halloween reviews I’ve been posting here, here’s my review of the It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown app on iPad.

As I’m writing this, the sun is coming out for the first time since before Hurricane Sandy. Happy Halloween, everyone!
