Everybody Was Kung-Fu Fighting

by Amy Kraft on October 12, 2010

I like to tell everyone that the first chapter book I read to Olive was Fantastic Mr. Fox, but if Olive’s around she’ll correct me. It was actually Captain Underpants. Perhaps that kind of humor should be saved for when she’s older, but it’s fun getting the booger-inspired laughter out of her.

The latest from Dav Pilkey, or should I say George Beard and Harold Hutchins, is The Adventures of Ook and Gluk, Kung-Fu Cavemen from the Future. This book has everything: puking baby dinosaurs, killer robots, giant mechanical dinosaurs, quicksand, Kung-Fu training, evil future corporations depleting resources of a distance past, and a mutton chops. Like other Pilkey books you can expect some Flip-o-rama action and fun with sign destruction. Unlike other Pilkey books, this one has a little romance. Awwww, caveman love.

It even has a lesson in Cavemonics. Here, I’ll give it a try. Me like Ook and Gluk book. It tickle me funny spot. Me read it to smaller me. Smaller me make many giggles.

(Now me make blogger disclaimer. Me get review copy Ook and Gluk. Me no get free Kung-Fu lessons, though.)
