The family and I are currently enjoying a weekend getaway in Vermont, but just because we’re unplugged doesn’t mean that you have to be. While I’m gone may I suggest you sit down and watch some quality television. I’ve written about both of these shows before, but Phineas and Ferb and Sid the Science Kid are really standing the test of time in our house.
I am hooked on Phineas and Ferb. I DVR it just for myself, and laugh hysterically watching each episode. It has become my favorite kids show on television, edging out household favorite Yo Gabba Gabba. Other people I’ve introduced it to are hooked as well, as are their kids.
Olive, on the other hand, is glued to Sid the Science Kid, thus putting an end to what will now be known as the Wonder Pets Summer of ’08. This show is definitely having the desired effect – she’s going around the house measuring things. When she and I were looking at a Toys to Grow On catalog last night (great source for toys, by the way) she wanted me to order all of the charts she saw, especially the chore chart like Sid’s. And even though I find the acting grating for being too self-consciously “hey I’m acting like a kid!”, Olive finds the show hilarious. Hard to argue with that.
Now you go watch and I’m going to fill my lungs with fresh air. Enjoy!
